What Does Jesus Say?

The acronym W.W.J.D for What Would Jesus Do was resurrected in the late 1990s and remains somewhat popular today.  It was actually coined in 1886 by a Congregationalist preacher. In today’s hostile political environment when the politics appears to be antithetical to Jesus’ teaching, I would like to raise the acronym W.D.J.S for What Does Jesus Say?

I believe that the reason so many evangelicals or believers have defected from the Gospel of Jesus Christ and jumped in bed with Donald Trump is because they have lost sight of What Does Jesus Say?  It is the one thing that explains why those that used to declare themselves the Moral Majority has become as Ben Howe says, the Immoral Majority.

They use to be driven by biblical principles, but have now fallen prey to the anti-Christ politics of Trump.  They have gone whoring after the biggest prostitute of anti-Christian values, a president that has no conception of W.D.J.S or What Does Jesus Say?

I say earlier that What Would Jesus Do parallels What Does Jesus Say because if you know what Jesus says, then you will know what Jesus will do in any situation.  Everything that Jesus says proves that His politics runs contrary to the political environment of today.

In other words that stuff that Trump is putting out goes against what Jesus says.  It is antithetical to the words of Jesus or down right anti-Christian.  Can it be that Trump is the anti-Christ?  I’m just asking the question.  Ever since he launched his campaign for the presidency, his rhetoric and politics have run contrary to Jesus and anybody or anything that goes against Jesus is anti-Christ.

Jesus warns His disciples of people like Trump and the hypocrites that follow Him.  Listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 24:5, “For many will come in my name saying, I’m Christ and deceive many.”  Those deluded evangelicals have declared that Trump is the chosen one, as a matter of fact, I heard Trump even boast of being the chosen one.  Maybe he is the chosen one that’s been chosen to carry out the work of the anti-Christ.

There are two political movements going in this country.  There is the anti-Christ politics which opposes or abandon’s Jesus’ word.  Then there’s the politics of Jesus which follows the word of Jesus.  When the word or teaching of Jesus is applied to the anti-Christ politics of evangelicals like Jerry Falwell Jr., Pat Robertson and Franklin Graham, it becomes clear that they have sold their souls to the devil for the sake of an anti-abortion or anti-gay leaning judge.

This brings me to the question, What Does Jesus Say?  How does His word or politics differ from the anti-Christ politics that’s fueling the division-the inhumane-oppression and hatred in this country?  The only way to stop the spread of this anti-Christ politics, is too counter it with the politics of Jesus, stand against the evil politics, call it out and stand upon the word of Jesus.

The church seems to be losing its connection to Jesus.  When the leaders of the church can so easily walk contrary to what Jesus says, is evident that there’s a break in its connection to Jesus.  What Does Jesus Say?  Jesus says in Joh 15:5, “I am the vine and ye (the church) are the branches…  Apart from me you can do nothing.  In other words, you will become a weak church and succumb to anti-Christ politics.  It’s a weak and disconnected church that goes along with the Trumps of the world and thinks that it’s for the greater good, all because he signs off on unethical judges that will dismiss the spirit of law and render judgement according to some right wing ideology.

Any church leader or church member that goes along with or complicit with this anti-Christ politics are not fit for the kingdom of God.   What Does Jesus Say?  John 15:6, “If anyone does not remain in me, he’s like a branch that’s thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and cast into fire.”

What Does Jesus Say? (WDJS) Jesus lays out a word in the Bible that informs His politics.  It’s the driving force behind everything that Jesus has said or done.  It is what drove Him to the cross to give His life for all people.  It is what has brought us down through the years and kept us in the midst of our last storm.  Jesus says “As the Father has loved me so have I loved you.”  And then He says in Matthew 15:12 “My command is this, that you love one another as I have loved you.”  It was love behind every nail that He took for us.  It is the same love that He has for us today and expects us to have for one another.  Anything other than that love is anti-Christ.

Love is what’s going to get us through.  Love is our anchor in the midst of anti-Christ politics.  Love is the foundation of all believers’ joy.
