WOMEN'S MISSIONARY SOCIETY

We are women called to discipleship to grow in knowledge and experience of God, committed to support the mission of the church, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are challenged to help one another engage in ministry and action, and grow and respond in faith to God's plan for the church, the society, and the world.

"New Shoes Back to School" Ministry

The Ministry began in 2006 at Third St. Bethel A.M.E when 712 pairs were given to anxious students, accompanied by their parents/guardians from the city of Richmond and surrounding counties, and it has grown to a total of over 82,000 pairs of new shoes given – eighteen (18) years later.  New churches join the ministry each year, and we welcome them with open arms, thus allowing us to serve more young people as the word spreads about the “New Shoes For Back To School” Ministry.  This year, there are a total of thirteen (16) churches in the ministry.
