"Giants Do Fall"

I have often been drawn to the story of David and Goliath that is found in the 17th Chapter of 1 Samuel.  It reminds me that no matter how large or threatening the Giants in our lives may appear to be, we have a God who takes the giants down.  When we are confronted by our most difficult task or giant size situations, we can be confident that God will move in miraculous ways to slew the giant before us.

When David walked down into the valley of Elah to face off Goliath the giant, he did so with confidence.  David’s confidence did not come from any of his abilities, but by reflecting on what God had already brought him through.  Sometimes, we seem to develop amnesia and forget how God has already made a way for us.

David walked down into the valley of Elah to face a giant that was a much larger and experienced warrior than he.  Not only was David younger and smaller than the giant, but his choice of weapons did not appear to be enough for victory.

David did not make the mistake that a lot of believers make, he did not allow the size of the giant (problem or situation) to shatter his confidence in God.  In 1 Samuel 17: 47 David in essence says, “The Lord is able to save regardless of the size or how formidable the enemy appears to be.”  That is why David said, “The battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

David took his confidence in the Lord along with five small rocks and a sling and slew the giant.  Your confidence in God is a secret weapon that takes giants down.  Giants Do Fall.  Where are the giants in your life? Trust the Lord to take them down.  Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee; fear not, neither be dismayed.”
