Another Black Father Writes an Open Letter

There is an article that I found posted on Black Enterprise. Com that was written by Patrick Hampton.  The title of the article is, “Black Father Writes Open Letter to Lebron James You Don’t Speak for Me and My Boys.”

This is another black father writing an open letter in response to Patrick Hampton.  I want Mr. Hampton to know that Lebron James was speaking loud and clear for black fathers that are not blind to systemic racism in America.  It is apparent that Lebron was not speaking on behalf of Mr. Hampton and his boys, for I have to admit that Lebron was speaking on behalf of blacks who are aware of and have experienced racial profiling, driving while black, two justice systems, red-lining, predatory lending, voter suppression and all other oppressions that blacks have suffered under America’s white supremacy movement.

Lebron James was speaking to black fathers such as I who are not deluded or have been led into some sense of false security.  The only blacks that should not live with a sense of fear are the ones that are cognitively impaired or living in a world of stupidity.

There is something wrong with a man that can justify police brutality or murder upon blacks.  It is even more appalling to me that the father is so blind to the racial hatred and white supremacy in this country that he is willing to give racist and corrupt police officers a pass for killing blacks.  And what is even more absurd, Hampton seems to believe that the police murder of blacks is justified because the black victims are reared in single parent homes where they are not taught to respect authority.  Does Mr. Hampton foolishly believe that there are no homes of white people that have absent fathers?

Give me a break! This misguided father should take the blinders off and maybe he would see that there is no justifiable reason for the unlawful murder of blacks at the hands of racist police officers.  I have never failed to respect police officers that approached me in a respectful and professional manner.  If police officers want respect, then they need to give respect.

It really hurts to see a black father so willing to excuse the unjustified police killing of blacks and blame it on the problems within the black community.

Now! I am not saying that we don’t have single parent homes, hopelessness and black on black crime, but before we start talking about what’s wrong in the black community, then let’s talk about the trauma that has been created because of the racist and oppressive practices that have been hanging around the necks of blacks  since slavery.  Let us talk about the caste system in America that teaches one race to be superior to another, a system of policies that support unequal treatment of blacks in order to satisfy the white man’s greed and desire to maintain power.

It is that same caste system that has created a lot of hopelessness and problems within the black community.  After reading the article written by Mr. Hampton, I concluded that he needs to take the mirror off Lebron James and turn it on himself.  It is obvious to me that he has bought into the alternative reality that Trump has created, a reality that has been built upon the acceptance of lies, hypocrisy, divisiveness and idiocy.  The reality is Trump’s idea of what “makes American Great Again”, and unfortunately it happens to be an America without the likes of Mr. Hampton and his sons.  As one white Trump supporter said, “President Trump is going to put people of color back in their place.”  Is that the kind of America that Mr. Hampton wants for his sons?  Some would call Mr. Hampton an Uncle Tom, but I see him as being a hypocrite, for he can see everything wrong with African American culture and nothing wrong with the culture that he so much want to be a part.
